We offer Guided Beach Excursions on the new 2nd generation Segway i2 personal transporter.
What's a Segway?
A Segway is the world's first self-balancing human transporter. The i2 is Segway's 2nd generation machine released at year's end 2006, and revolutionary because of its new LeanSteer technology.
To move forward or backward on the i2, the rider leans slightly forward or backward. To turn left or right, the rider simply moves the LeanSteer frame-handlebar left or right. --- Riding an i2 feels something like hang-gliding... except you're only suspended 8 inches over the street... so it's kinda like 'street-gliding'. --- A sort of magic carpet ride enabling you to cruise the entire Beachwalk or Broadwalk... without breaking a sweat.(Top)
How do I get to know the area... fast?
We'll travel the full length of the main beach... and beyond (7.5 miles roundtrip). You'll see the restaurants, the shops and, no doubt, some fine lookin' natives along the way. We're not a "tour" ... i.e. we don't focus on the historical significance of a particular museum.
Okay, frankly? We don't even mention a museum.
Pretend you're going horseback riding ... only the 'horse' moves where and when you want. (Top)
Are there any physical restrictions to riding an i2?
You must be able to step on and off the i2 without support (similar to stepping onto an 8 inch step without using the handrail).(Top)
Are there any age restrictions? Any weight restrictions?
If you can ride a bicycle… you’re probably good to go. Under 250 lbs. and ideally, over 90 lbs.(Top)
What about bad weather... do you cancel if it's raining?
What? ..... Are you kidding? ..... Listen up, we need your money, we ain't cancelling if there's a typhoon outside. Okay, well, maybe if there's a typhoon.
Look, the i2 runs great in the rain... and we've got rain gear to keep you warm... and really dry. Where's your sense of adventure?! After you get a little wet (IF you do), you don't even think about it anymore. Think Gene Kelly in "Singin' in the Rain". --- Besides, what else are you going to do when it's raining? --- You can't play golf, right?
Often the experience can be more fun in the rain because the rain gets rid of all those pedestrians. This gives us a full-run of the entire area... i.e. we've got it all to ourselves. It's a different experience.
It can also be very romantic... if you bring along the right person. - (Check back into the hotel immediately afterward for a hot shower and warm bed.)
But... more often than not, showers come and go quickly here. In 5 minutes the sun could reappear where you never imagined it.(Top)
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Don't wanna look like a dork? Neither do we. If you promise not to sue us, you can sign an additional waiver and go 'topless'. --- And if you choose to wear a helmet, we'll provide one.(Top)
How long does it last, and how much does it cost?
Training time (10 - 20 minutes) + about an hour (for the 7.5 mile ride) ... meaning we cover twice the distance in half the time of other Segway tours. --- In other words, we let you ride much faster for most of the trip... which is A LOT more fun.
$95/person cash only please. - We do not take credit cards. (Top)
